I like SOP, I just biked over there tonight to see how move in is going and how people are fairing, I think it's going to be a great year full of learning experiences for all. Which is great, that's why we went to Creighton, so we can learn. Found out that people have been smoking in the basement of big house, I told them to NEVER DO THAT AGAIN! Others have told them that on issues like that they should get a consensus on the matter, which gave people false hope, so I translated that into: there is no way in hell that they will ever smoke in the basement again. well thats what I meant, what I said was, "I don't care, I mean I personally think it's a bad idea, even though we have NEVER done that before and had strict rules against even smoking on the porch with the doors open, it's really up to your community, and honestly I am sure that nebjedi and fertilexercise will tell you that your ideas, and reasoning for them are not going to fly." as they wanted to assure me that the smokers would out vote the non smokers I began explaining consensus... which lead to a lovely conversation about certain events from the summer, and how people will have a lot to learn about concensus. I really like the new SOP, and so does the J&J. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~SM(ó)KE~~~ [][[[CIG[]]]]]}~~ SOP members are really excited about the garden, and they wants to weed and harvest, but so far all he has done is water the garden and smoke in the back yard, they think the plants like the smell of smoke. SOP has already started developing an intimate relationship with the neighbors, a couple new people in the neighborhood, and bumps they are planning on helping bumps paint stanandstella's house, which means they will realize that bumps has no memory, there will not be any paint and they will probably introduce theme selves on positive terms to stanandstella. One thing is for certain. oh, I am going to make shirts for SOP, hoodies, this is an idea I had before school ended and it is just easier to accomplish when I actually have people to place an order, pleace do so in the comments. Especially if you don't currently LIVE at SOP.

I have lived at the spirit of peace communtiy for just over 2years and I am moving out. I have moved more times than I care to count and this has been, by far, the easiest move. I will miss the Spirit of Peace Community, but at the same time I will only be about 6 blocks away, so it has been made a little more easy to not have to say good bye just yet.

I have been reflecting a lot lately on where I want to live, where I want to be, and I have decided that it is nice to just rest. To not have to be moving, or in motion, or busy... I like Omaha, and I am glad that I am not leaving yet.

At this point all I have left at Spirit of Peace are some old text books in the attic, a couple tools in the shed we call a garage, a couple of clothes, and a router and power strip. I need to get someone who will take over the Cox Bill that is in my name so that I can get internet at <lj user=predestinated>'s house. I'll turn in my keys tomorrow and will be officially moved out of Spirit of Peace.

Well, I wasn't at the Reunion for very long as I was working, but myself and a P.Safety officer decided to make an apperance while we were working for our lunch break. Even though I wasn't there, or maybe because of it, a lot of people said they had a good time, and it was really good for everyone to see each other.

For the most part we avoided tears at all costs when saying good bye, and now that everyone is gone we can clean the house!

Community Get together is Next Saturday!
I don't think I told anyone that the SOP party was friday but I might have typed it in wrong somewhere since it's online in a couple of places. I'll check and fix them, in the meantime, adjust your calanders as necessary.

Community Garden is almost done being weeded, we have most of a row to finish, "The Self Proclaimed Jerk" and I (mostly The Jerk) have weeded as many weeds as we can stand to pull in just one day! That's the good news, the bad news is, we also had to replant a couple of things and found out that many of the plants that are supposed to be growing are in fact, not growing. We do have some healthy looking tomatos that need cages, peas that also need something to climb on, and some really good looking Zucchinni. Other than the tomattos, Garlic, Zucchinni, and a couple other things we have less than a 50% turnout rate for the things started in the Garden, all plants started in the green house are doing great at about a 95% rate!

Pictures wont be up for a while on the website, but know that the garden is doing great.

Em, is getting home tomorrow! flying in at: 12:30 Pm!!!!

I got back from a week away from the garden and here are some things that I noticed:

-Many plants are popping up, it is exciting the garlic, and zucchini look amazing, many other plants also look like they are thriving, including about a million weeds and clover, apparently the grass and manure are not as much help as we hoped, the plan is to pull the weeds later today.

-The Green house also had a lot of great news, Adam did a great job of keeping the plants alive, except the tomato plants that were already started when we mail ordered them. They look really dry and as though they have not been watered in forever… we are trying to resuscitate the already started tomato plants. Many of the greenhouse plants are going to go into the ground today and tomorrow! I am excited!

-The sprinklers were for some unknown reason shut off, the back yard in the north side was bone dry, I am a little worried about this and will be posting a sign to remind people that the sprinklers NEED to have the water turned on in order to work.

- I have also started a Journal to make observations about the garden in, I think that posting such things in live journal would be great but not everyone associated with the garden uses livejournal.

- The Garden pictures have been posted online. http://homepage.mac.com/zacaro/spiritofpeace

I found out today that not everyone knew about the garden website, so I thought I would remind the livejournal users that there are indeed pictures of the garden online.

That’s it for now, soon a list of things to do for the garden will be posted, in the meantime, just enjoy the update.

Ok, folks, so camping on Friday didn't work out. What days next week work for people? We'd go to Two Rivers again, leave fairly early in the evening (5-6?) and be back as early as we need to the next day.

Any thoughts?
29 April 2006 @ 08:24 pm
Hey beautifuls! Our camping trip is this upcoming friday, May 5. Unless there is any major objections, we will be going to Two Rivers again. We will leave at 6pm on Friday, and get back sometime in the early morning Saturday. Bring yer marshmallows, and any safely combustible items you may have. Two Rivers is roughly 35 min away (according to Mapquest) so we will get there, start burning things, and possibly have to stop a swordfight between the boys with flaming branches. Swimming will likely not be on the agenda, as it will be too freaking cold.

Sleeping bags, tents, etc would be appreciated. Two cars will likely be necessary, we can figure such things out as they come up. If you have questions, want to volunteer supplies, or want to make sure we know you're coming, please call the houses!

Thanks so much and muchas smoochas,
